Welcome to the APSR-UNESCO Project Wiki

The APSR-UNESCO is a research project undertaken in the Australian Partnership for Sustainable Repositories by Kevin Bradley of the National Library of Australia. The aim of the project is to analyse the costs associated with the construction, operation and management of a digital storage system.

The task will be to describe a small-scale stand-alone digital storage system and repository using open source software. The system will undertake all the normal archiving functions of a digital storage system. That is, ingest and task management, metadata extraction and management, preservation and backup.

The outcome will be a report that identifies possible open source pathways, but more importantly, identifies the gaps in available technology and recommends a way for UNESCO to address that shortcoming.
